Getting started
Market Rewind is a virtual investing game inspired by real market events. No real money changes hands, and the stocks and dates stay secret until the end.
How to play
How does a game work?
Pick a scenario and difficulty, and you get 60 trading days of pre-event charts, ₩10,000,000 in cash, and 100 shares of each of 4 stocks. Each trading day you have 60 seconds to read the chart and news, then buy, sell, or wait. When the last day opens, we reveal your return along with the real event, stocks, and dates.
How do the difficulties differ?
They play the same scenario over different lengths: Easy is 10 trading days (up to 10 minutes), Normal is 20 (up to 20 minutes), and Hard is 60 (up to 60 minutes). Easy and Normal use fixed windows where the event unfolds, so everyone competes on the same days.
Can I pause?
Once you start, you can't pause. Even if you close the page or switch devices, each trading day's 60 seconds keep running on server time. When you return, the game has moved on to wherever the clock got to. When you're ready, press "Next day" to move on early.
How are orders filled?
Instantly, at the closing price of the day you're looking at. You trade in whole shares and pay a 0.25% fee on every buy and sell. You can't trade on the last day; remaining shares are valued at that day's close.
How is my return calculated?
The baseline is your starting total: starting cash plus the day-0 value of the shares you were given. Your final assets (cash plus holdings at the last day's close) are compared against it.
Scenarios & rankings
When does today's scenario change?
A new scenario opens every day at 00:00 Korea time. You can replay past scenarios for practice at any time.
How are rankings decided?
If a signed-in player finishes their first game of today's scenario before 00:00 the next day (Korea time), it enters that difficulty's ranking. Higher returns rank higher; ties go to whoever finished first. All three difficulties share the same event, so you get one first game per scenario regardless of difficulty; later games only go to your own record.
Are the prices and news real?
Prices keep the real chart shape and daily moves, but the price level is rescaled so the stock is hard to recognize. News items are rewritten from what market participants could have known that day. The content is adapted for the game, so don't use it as a basis for real investment decisions.
Account & records
Do I need to sign in?
No, you can play right away. Your records are saved to an anonymous account in this browser. To join rankings or continue on another device, sign in with Google; your games carry over as they are.
What if I clear my browser data?
If you aren't signed in and clear this site's browser data, you can no longer reach your anonymous account, and its records can't be recovered. Sign in to keep them safe.
How do I delete my records or account?
Email pgt0409@gmail.com. Writing from the address of the Google account you signed in with helps us verify you faster. We delete the account together with its game records and nickname.
